Piece by Piece artists recently completed an 8' H x 4.5' L mosaic mural for the community room at Linc Housing’s new development, located at 12625 South Willowbrook Ave in Los Angeles. Commissioned by Linc Housing, the permanent installation honors the legacy of community leader Pastor Dolores Glass.

Designed by Dawn Mendelson, the mural portrays an ocean landscape beneath a colorful sunset. The composition incorporates rolling waves, sea glass motifs, and mosaic rocks, using a mix of materials and textures including stained glass, sea glass, flat and rounded tile, and matte and glossy pottery pieces.

The fabrication was overseen by Social Enterprise Manager Lauren Lancy. The process took three months at the Piece by Piece studio, followed by a two-day on-site installation on October 19–20, 2026. Contributing artists and installers included Jose M, Andrea S, Victor J, Ricardo S, Rosa V, Norma C, and Luis M.

Beyond adding art to the shared community space, this commission provided the social enterprise mosaic artists with several months of steady work at a fair hourly rate. Opportunities like this are central to Piece by Piece’s mission of empowering residents who have experienced homelessness or economic insecurity through art workshops and paid work that foster skill-building, wellness, and financial stability.

Piece by Piece is deeply grateful to Linc Housing for its continued partnership and repeat commissions, from the Azure Butterfly Mosaics in Anaheim to this new mural in Willowbrook. Linc Housing sets an example for the community by investing in artwork that also supports individuals like the artists at Piece by Piece, turning each commission into steady, meaningful work.
