From November 15, 2025, to February 8, 2026, Piece by Piece had the incredible honor of participating in the Maker in Residence program at Craft Contemporary on Wilshire Blvd. During those three wonderful months, our artists had a vibrant platform to showcase their work, engage directly with museum visitors, and share the transformative power of mosaic art with a broader audience.
Building on the momentum of that unforgettable residency, our partnership came full circle on July 15, 2026, when we had the absolute pleasure of hosting the Craft Contemporary team at our home base in South Los Angeles. We were thrilled to open our studio doors to Senior Curator Frida Cano, Exhibitions and Residency Manager Joseph Baca, and the museum's education and program staff for an intimate, behind the scenes look at our creative space.
The visit wasn't just a walkthrough, it was a chance to get hands on with the craft. Our social enterprise mosaic artist, Andrea S., led the museum staff through an interactive, step by step lesson focused on the crucial grouting process. It was fantastic watching the Craft Contemporary team roll up their sleeves and experience the patience, technique, and care that goes into finishing every single mosaic produced in our studio.
