Meet Jay Corrigan, Our New AmeriCorps VISTA

Piece by Piece is thrilled to welcome our newest AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer, Jay Corrigan, who joins us as our Volunteer Coordinator. With a deep-rooted passion for social justice and creative expression, Jay brings both heart and experience to this role—along with a commitment to strengthening community through art.

Originally from New York City, Jay has spent years using art as a tool for connection and healing. Their service journey includes teaching art to young children in Harlem through the Children’s After School Studio Arts program at Little Sisters of the Assumption, where they first witnessed the therapeutic and transformative power of creative expression. They also led art workshops and coordinated field trips at Sweet Readers, a nonprofit that pairs students with adults living with neurodegenerative diseases.

At Piece by Piece, Jay will help expand the impact of our volunteer program by:

  • Designing a sustainable volunteer recruitment and management system that matches people’s skills with our evolving needs

  • Creating inclusive onboarding and orientation materials to ensure every volunteer feels safe, supported, and informed

  • Building a calendar of recurring volunteer days and forging new connections with local universities, professional groups, and community networks

Jay is energized to begin this new chapter of service through AmeriCorps. As they help grow the capacity of our programs, Jay is also eager to learn from the team and the incredible community of artists and volunteers that make Piece by Piece so special.

Interested in volunteering? Reach out to Jay at volunteer@piecebypiece.org—they’d love to hear from you!
